My Worst Food Experiences In MANGALORE

There are many restaurants or food outlets in the city that serve food which is worth its money. It maY have great taste, the best service and the most wonderful ambience. I love going to these places from time to time to treat myself. But there are also those food outlets where you will have a terrible food experience and you can do nothing about it cause it’s their way of scamming people. But at least after reading this post you may avoid it,I have had some unforgettable experiences at these certain outlets and I hope whoever reads this knows about it.This list is not in a rank order.

Snackies, Mangalore

Snackies is a bakery and has 2 outlets. Their cakes are alright and its priced reasonable although they don’t have many options like Just Bake. But I wouldn’t say the same about the rest of it.

They have burgers, sandwiches, cutlets, juice etc. which are very mediocre but priced a little higher comparing to shops nearby. My experience at snackies was the worst though. Once I got a spoiled chicken roll and I told them the inside of the roll was squishy and tasted spoilt but to my surprise they said it can’t be spoilt and they did not seem to care about it, this happened at the Attavar outlet. After a few months, this happened at the Kankanady outlet, I called them up and ask them to deliver some snacks but they always declined saying they were low on staff. I heard the same thing over and over again for the next few days. Until I got fed up and I finally decided to eat at the outlet itself. Surprisingly there where 4 employees and no customers, I was pretty mad at that but let it go as I was pretty damn hungry. I ordered an egg wrap which had just a half of a boiled egg inside it, yes that is disappointing. My friend he orders a hot dog which costed around 100 RS or something. As the hot dog came I was shocked at the size of the sausage it wasn’t longer than inches and it was thin as a pencil. When he was about to take a bite, the sausage slips and falls on the floor. And the employees saw the whole thing, we expected a replacement but all they said was 30 RS for another sausage. I couldn’t believe they said that, but we still got it. Thank god, we did coz I never went there to eat again. As you remember the sausage was small, and after having a bite, it was rubbery and the bread was dry and plain with only mustard, I couldn’t believe the charge 100 RS for it. 5 star chicken in bangalore gives a sausages with cheese inside and its way bigger than this piece of rubber pencil and it costs just 50 RS.  It was the worst food experience ever. Going there again would be torturing myself.

Its better to try these tacos at The Cafe, which is situated right above Snackies.
It tastes way better and definitely far away from disappointing.

Diner’s Paradise, Kadri

Situated in the centre of the city, this restaurant has a perfect location. And it’s also famous for its biriyani and that was the reason I liked visiting this restaurant. The seats were comfortable and the room wasn’t too bright, And I liked the ambience. One day just like every other we came to have some good biriyani and then all of a sudden, my friend sees a Rat. And I didn’t believe him because I liked the place very much until, that Rat was crawling at my leg. And I freaked out. Cause it was big Rat, and to accompany that misery there were two of them. Two Rats at my feet and crawled under the sofa that I was sitting on. I called the waiter as soon as possible and he didn’t look surprised, he acted like he cared by looking under the sofa. And when he saw the Rats move from one sofa to another, all he said was ‘yes sir there are Rats in this room’. And he didn’t say anything to back it up. I at once left that place and didn’t think twice at all.

The restaurant served good food, had some decent service but it wasn’t hygienic. I can’t eat at a restaurant knowing it’s infested with Rats. Just the thought of it makes me Puke. I never visited that place again after that incident.

Haveli, Kadri

Its situated right near diner’s paradise at Kadri. I knew about this restaurant and I always wanted to check it but I never had the time, and whenever I did have time I never remembered this place. Until one day I saw a post going viral about a restaurant in Mangalore which was offering buffet of 55 different varieties and unlimited courses at just Rs 200. This offer was the most inviting one I ever read and I couldn’t let go such a deal, although I wish I did cause of the horror that lied ahead. I went early there was a huge line and I was very happy cause saving money on food is the dream. There were soups, salads, chicken, veg starters, etc. I took a little of everything to taste. And each and every dish was bad. It tasted bad, it was spoilt. The fried chicken I just took a bite and I spit it out and the soup made me dizzy cause of its bad flavour. There wasn’t a single item that was good. Even the biriyani didn’t have any kind of flavour or aroma. It was just plain rice mixed with some masala and some dry fruits. I just wanted to get out of there. Nevertheless, my stomach was spoiled that night.

And I promised myself to never go back there. This was the first time I went there, I have been here twice, the 2nd time I went there was again another offer as we were going to eat at Prax which is situated in the same building and it was full and we just about to decide to go somewhere, and then suddenly a person hand overs a food offer at haveli and now this buffet was saying all you can eat at 150 Rs, the reason I went back there was because it was late at night and we couldn’t find any autos. So, I just hoped the food was better and we went in. and now it was the same bad horrible food which over the course had never changed. I will never go back here and kindly request to donate that money rather than poison yourselves, Even the 2nd time had my stomach spoiled.

Damanna, Aloysius

this place has lot of spicy street food and it’s also famous for Boiled Egg Charmuri and Pachodi (mango slices with chilli powder) I never noticed about the hygiene. Until I saw damanna pouring water on him with his clothes on and not wiping himself up. He took bath in public and then went in to cook. He didn’t even use a towel or a soap or even a bathroom for that matter. And then I noticed the vessels, how they just dipped in the water. they dipped all the vessels in the same water and picked them up and wiped them with a dirty cloth. It’s definitely the most unhygienic food stall in Mangalore.

Please avoid it if you care about cleanliness in your food.

Spice Of Andhra, City Centre Mall

I love Andhra style cuisine, its spicy and more flavourful and has some great biriyani’s. but this food outlet in city centre gave me food poisoning, the very first time I tried it. I got food poisoning. I ate atleast half of the Egg biriyani I ordered. The masala didn’t go well and the boiled egg was still raw inside. My friends stopped eating in two spoons and I just hate wasting food so I ate as much as I could. This was henceforth always avoided, I dunno if people buy anything there but I rarely see any customers. The biriyani gave me food poisoning and Andhra style chicken didn’t even taste like it should. It was such a waste of money.

I guess sometimes simple food is the safe food.
